Robert W. "Sandy" Richards
March 3, 1918 – March 20, 2002
Robert W. "Sandy" RICHARDS, 84, Rochester, died at 4:50 a.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Hospital.
Born in Rochester to Charles and Ida May JOHNSON RICHARDS, he married Betty Jean JANKE in 1939. She died June 30, 1966.
Mr. Richards was a self-employed backhoe operator. He was a member of Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge and Rochester First Church of God. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Utter and husband Channing, Akron; two grandchildren, Nancee Utter, Fort Wayne, J.C. Utter and wife Lynne, Bourbon; one great-granddaughter, Adrienne Utter; one brother, John Richards and wife Ella, Crescent City, Fla.; one sister, Pauline Richart, Rochester.
Preceding in death with his wife were his parents, three half brothers, Clifford, Rex and Russell RICHARD, and two sisters, Eva RINGLER and Ollivene COUSINS.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with Rev. David DITTMAN officiating. Burial will be at Rochester IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services. Memorials may be made to First Church of God, Rochester.
