Flight Engineer with the 603rd Bomb Squadron, 398th Bomb Group.


On a mission out of USAAF Station 131 Nuthampstead, England to strike targets over Berlin aboard B17G Flying Fortress #42-107231, his aircraft was struck in the № 2 and

№ 3 engines by anti-aircraft artillery flak and exploded and crashed in the vicinity of the Jungfernheide Railway Station, Charlottenburg-Nord district of Berlin, Germany. Eight crewmembers were Killed In Action, and three escaped the downed bomber and survived and became POWs. Missing Air Crew Report № 5252.
