Last Will and Testament of C. F. G. Schmidt

I Carl Schmidt of the Town of Quincy, County of Olmsted and State of Minnesota being of sound mind and memory and mindful of the human life, do make, publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner following:

First: After the payment of my just debts and funeral expenses I give, devise, bequeath to my beloved Wife, Wilhelmina Schmidt the sum of three thousand dollars legal currency of the United States of America, and all the household good in our possession at this present date.

Second: I give, devise and bequeath to the Missionary Society of the Evangelical Association of North America located at Cleveland, Cuyahega County, State of Ohio, the sum of five hundred (500) dollars legal currency of the United States of America, to be applied according to the Constitution of said Society, and for which the receipt of the Treasurer shall be sufficient discharge.

Third: All the rest, residue and remainder of all my Estate both real and personal to be equally divided between my Children in eleven equal shares, share and share alike; the Child or Children of a deceased Child taking the which his or her or their parents would have taken if living.

Fourth: I hereby nominate and appoint my two sons, Frederic C. Schmidt and Ferdinand C. Schmidt the executors of this my last will and testament and hereby authorize and empower them, they said Frederic C. Schmidt and Ferdinand C. Schmidt, to compound, compromise and settle any claim or demand which may be against or in my favor of my said Estate.

In Witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this first day of August 1884.

The above instrument consisting of a half sheet was signed, published and declared by the said Testator to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have signed our names at his request as witnesses in his presence and in presence of each other.
