Mrs. Bryan Succumbs in Jonesboro

Mrs. Janie Spurlock Bryan, 70 died Monday in a local hospital after a long ilness.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:30p.m. in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. C. B. Ellis and the Rev. J. O. McNair officiating. Burial was in the Gayla Traina Memorial Cemetery here under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bryan was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, past president of Jonesboro Baptist WMU, and association president and district representative of WMU for a number of years. She was a member of Cresent Chapter No. 64 OES and the Cosmos Club. She and her husband were the owners of Southern Funeral Home here. Mr. and Mrs. Bryan moved to Jonesboro from Union Paris in 1943.

Survivors include her husband R. W. Bryan, Sr., of Jonesboro; one son, R. W. Bryan, Jr. of Dallas Texas; three daughters, Mrs. Farrah Holder and Mrs. Lucille Boyd both of Jonesboro and Mrs. Evelyn Price of Winnfield; three sisters, Mrs. Lila Messer of Zachary, and Mrs. Carrie Roy and Mrs. Lennie Grace Robinson, Both of Downsville; three brothers F. J. Spurlock and S. V. Spurlock both of Houston, Texas, and G. R. Spurlock of Golden Meadow; 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren and an aunt, Mrs. T. A. Miles of Kilgore, Texas.

Pallbearers were Rickey Rockett, Billy Rockett, Chesley Rockett, Jerry Price, Larry Price, Mike Holder and Larry Lowe.
