"Believed to be the first white child born between Calednia and Hillsboro, Mrs. Engel was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gronke, who were among the earliest settlers in this area. She was 70 years old.
"In 1928, Mrs. Engel, with her late husband, who died in 1929 moved to Hillsboro to make their home after having lived on a farm, east of the city, since their marriage.
"Surivors are four children. Edmund Engel and H. W. Engel of Hillsboro, Mrs. Conrad Leraas of Hutner, N.D., and Norman Engel of Cummings."
