Nola Jewell McFarland Faulkner
96, widow of John D. Faulkner to who she married in 1950, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home. She was born September 11, 1917 at Myers Station in Nicholas County to the late William and Emma Lee McCarty McFarland. A lifelong member of Myers Christian Church where she had eight years of perfect attendance, Nola taught the Junior Blessing Sunday School. She was an Avon sales representative for 41 years, worked at Hansley Mills Factory in Paris and later worked at Giffin Manufacturing in Carlisle. Nola was past Mistress of Myers Post Office for two years during World War II. After moving to Flemingsburg, she attended the Flemingsburg First Church of God. Everyone who knew Nola knew that she loved to do three things: sew, watch Wheel of Fortune and watch Jeopardy. But the thing that Nola loved the most was to read her Bible. She is survived by a grandson, David Lee (Miranda) Utterback of Flemingsburg and a great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Leigh Utterback. Besides her parents and husband, Nola was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Sue Utterback and son-in-law, Roger Utterback. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Denton-Workman Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Wednesday, November 13th at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elizaville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Anthony Utterback, Lyle Utterback, Carl Story, Wayne Perkins, Jarrod Fizer, and David Lee Utterback.
