Elmer was the son of George Robert and Henryetta Josephine "Bennett" Clements. On 15 Aug 1917, he married Bertie Barnett, daughter of George and Sarah "Colburn" Barnett. They were the parents of seven children. Elmer served as a PVT in the Quartermaster Corps in WWI from 18 Sepember 1917 to 18 January 1919. He was a farmer.

Elmer Horace Clements of Calhoun City died unexpectedly at his home at 6:25 pm last Friday. He was 67. Services were held at Bethel Baptist Church Saturday afternoon, with Rev. Leroy Dorroh and Rev. J. B. Middleton officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery, with Pryor Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Ray Clements, Roy Clements, Raymond Clements, Bill James Clements and Ed Clements. Mr. Clements was a retired farmer, a member of the Baptist church and a veteran of World War I. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Birdie "Barnett" Clements of Calhoun City; two daughters, Mrs. Milton Walls [Sarah Ed] and Mrs. Mary Ellen Walls, both of Calhoun City; three sons, Walter Clements of Grenada, George Clements and Lee Clements, both of Calhoun City; a brother, Bob Clements of Pittsboro; a sister, Mrs. Marshall Cole of Bruce; two half-brothers, Joe Thomas Clements of Bruce and V. J. Clements of Como and a half-sister, Mrs. Adam Chrestman of Bruce.
