Death Beckons Samuel Elkins; Prominent County Citizen Dies Early Today Due To Crash Injuries

Samuel T. Elkins, 60, of Snowville, died at the Waynesboro General hospital at 12:10 a.m. today from injuries received in an auto accident on route 29 near Culpeper, October 16. Funeral services will be held at Cecil's Chapel, Pulaski county, tomorrow at 2 o'clock with the Rev. L.D. Mayberry, of Independence, conducting. He is survived by his widow, Alice Elkins; one daughter, Mrs. G.P. Kinser, of Waynesboro; three brothers, R.N. Elkins, Pulaski County; H.H. Elkins, Christiansburg; W.W. Elkins, Roanoke; two sisters, Mrs. R.L. Richardson, Pulaski, and Mrs. E.L. Covey, of Radford. Pallbearers will be: M.D. Covey, C.C. Graham, Earl Phillips, D.W. Phillips, Jason Wilson and Charles Lowman. Little hope has been entertained for the recovery of Mr. Elkins since the accident in which other members of the family were injured. He was widely known in the county and had many friends who will be shocked to learn of his passing.
