Richard N. Elkins, 86, died Wednesday at his home on Newbern Rd. He is survived by two sons, M. Foy Elkins; Wysor C. Elkins, both of Pulaski; one daughter, Mrs. Mary E. Pendleton, Pulaski; two brothers, Henry H. Elkins, Radford, W. Wirt Elkins, Roanoke; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Richardson, Pulaski; Mrs. E. Fred Covey, Radford; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Elkins was a farmer and cattle raiser. He was also Deputy Commissioner for Pulaski County for 32 years. He had been a director of the Pulaski and Giles Mutual Insurance Co. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Cecil's Chapel Methodist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. The Rev. James L. Crabtree will officiate. The remains will rest at Stevens Funeral Home until the hour of services.
