Bertha D. Caling, 91, a longtime Cashmere resident, died Thursday morning at a Wenatchee convalescent center. She was born June 25, 1892, at Herrin, Ill, and came by covered wagon to Grant County in the early 1900s and was raised there.
She married John P. Caling on Jan. 5, 1910, at Ephrata. They lived at Mount Vernon and Wenatchee and moved to Cashmere in 1927. Mrs. Caling worked for Wenoka, Blue Star and Liberty Orchards and Mr. Caling passed away in 1965.
Mrs. Caling was a member of the Cashmere Baptist Church and the Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include her son Chester L. Caling, Snohomish; a sister, Bessie Molsee, Wenatchee; a brother, Floyd Dearing, Ellensburg; two grandchildren; two great-granddaughters.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Cashmere Cemetery with Rev. Robert McGeeney officiating. Pallbearers were Logan Sheldon, Homer Warren, Elmo Newton, Charles Northrop, Jake Qine and Earl Barnes.
The Braun Funeral Hone was in charge of funeral arrangements.
