Following a short illness, Mrs. Dorsey T. Conklin, 64, died at Beloit hospital at 1 o'clock this morning. Her home was three miles west of Rockton on the Manchester road.
Nancy L. Swan, the youngest child of James and Mary Grant Swan, was born in Petersborough, N.H., Nov. 26, 1861. Her parents brought her to Illinois when she was four years old., and in March 1871 the Swan family moved to the farm west of Rockton which has since been her home. She was graduated from the Rockton high school in 1879 and later attended school in Rockford. She taught school for a few terms and on Dec. 30, 1884 was married to Dorsey T. Conklin. She was a member of the Shirland Methodist Episcopal church and for many years worked faithfully in the church and in the W.C.T.U.
Besides her husband she leaves two sons, James H. Conklin, on the farm, and Dorsey T., Oak Park, Ill. There are three grandsons and one great-granddaughter. She also leaves one sister.
The funeral will be held at the home at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, and the Rev. Mr. Collins, Freeport, Ill., will officiate. Burial will be made in the Rockton cemetery.
