Herman is the son of John "Jack" and Sarah "Sally" Blankenship Bryant. He was born and raised in Milan, Gibson Co., TN. He had two sisters and a brother. They are:

Hazel Bryant 1890 –
Harriet Gladys Bryant 1898 – 1964
Jack Emerson Bryant 1900 – 1973

His father died in 1900 at which time his family moved in with his uncle, Emerson Blankenship and son.

He enlisted in the military and served proudly in WWI as "CPL CO C 15 Machine Gun BN". After the war, he moved to California and worked as a printer. Herman is my 2nd cousin, 2x rem.
