----------
My mother, Vernie Lorenia, was the daughter of Cleason D Jones and Nancy Annie (Shott) Jones. She was the youngest of 10 children. At the time of her birth three sisters and one brother had already died. Vernie was born on August 22, 1913 at Stratford, Garvin County, Oklahoma. At the age of 3 her father died. She began school at Stratford, but they later moved to Oklahoma City and she continued her education there. However, money was tight and she eventually left school and went to work with her mother to help supplement the income.

She married Virgil Wallace Dyer on January 1, 1932. She spent several years at home, and then went back to work. She worked mostly at J.C. Penney & Company at three different store locations, first in the Capital Hill Store, then the Shephard Mall store, and then to the Crossroads location. Retiring from there around 1980. She was a member of the Southwest Church of Christ for nearly 70 years. She taught Sunday school for many years. Was active in the Oklahoma City Stepping Stones for many years. After the death of her first husband she married a life long friend Charles Wesley Zeno on March 18, 1984. He also preceded her in death.

She was survived by one daughter, Linda Sue Dyer Craig, 2 grandchildren, Angela Jennings Kulhanek and Jason Jennings. Great grandchildren: Anthony Kulhanek, Jessika Kulhanek, Jeremy Jennings, Candace Jennings and Kali Jennings. Many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, six brothers, Willie, Herbert, Monroe, Hugh, Willard and Virgil Lee (Ted). three sisters, Audi, Lovie, Dovie and her grandson Michael David Wylie.
