Ernestine B. Chastain, age 94 of Salem, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019, in Salem Crossing.

Born April 11, 1925 in Laurel Creek, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Walter Eversole Sr. and Nancy (Hicks) Eversole.

She was a former employee of the old Childcraft Inc. in Salem and was a member of the Smedley Church of Christ. She loved quilting, gardening, cooking, camping and spending time with her grandchildren.

She married James Boins Baker, who passed away December 28, 1968. On October 14, 1979 she married Osborne L. Chastain, who passed away October 11, 1986.

Survivors include: 2 Daughters: Betty Sue Cook and Bonnie Burton of Salem: Son: Alton Baker of Salem; 4 Sisters: Cecil Richardson and Marybell Brauch of Hamilton, Ohio, Brenda Lofkas of Florence, Kentucky and Juanita Hensley of Winchester, Kentucky; 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, 2 brothers and a grandson.

Ernestine was laid to rest with a family service at Palmyra Cemetery.
