George E. Akers, 54, of Accokeek and formerly of Allisonia, died Tuesday in Maryland. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary J. Anderson Akers; one daughter, Deborah A. Akers and one son, Kevin S. Akers, both at home; and his mother, Mrs. Millard Akers, Allisonia. Also surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Vertie Patrick, Mt. Ronia, MD; Mrs. Mildred Jacobs, Rockville, MD; Mrs. Ruth McCormack, Pulaski; Mrs. Geneva Rooney and Mrs. Effie Cox, both of Allisonia. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from the Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Brother Theodore Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Allison family cemetery. The body will arrive Thursday and be taken directly to the home of his mother in Allisonia. Stickler's Funeral Home in Pulaski is handling the arrangements.
