Surviving is one son, Leon Ash and wife Cindy, West Union, five sisters, Sharon Darby and husband Jack, FL, Janice Evans and husband Jerry, Rita Costilow and husband Bill, Donna Yerkey and husband Bob all of Salem, Rhoda Cavins and companion Mitch Dunham, Grafton, seven brothers, Albert Ash, West Union, Larry Ash and wife Linda, TN, Lester Ash, Freeman Ash, Leonard Ash and wife Debbie, Rick Ash and wife Roberta and Jeff Ash all of Salem, grandchildren, Casey Ash, Stephani Stout and Brittany Ross and husband J.R., one great granddaughter, Hadley Ross, 32 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. One sister- in –law, Camilla Ash preceded him in death.
Mr. Ash was a graduate of Doddridge County High School and retired from the Union Carbide with 27 years of service. He was former owner of Casey's Pizza and worked with City Library of Salem. Rex had served on the Doddridge County Board of Education for 12 years. He was an avid WVU sports fan and had coached Little League 24 years, Babe Ruth 12 years and Jerry West Basketball. Mr. Ash was a member of the Welcome Baptist Church, Big Battle Run and attended Vermont Baptist Church.
Rex was a loving father, grandfather and brother and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2009 in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem at 1:00 PM with Pastor Robert Marino presiding. Interment will follow in the Christian Church Cemetery, Center Point. Family and friends will be received on Friday, May 15, 2009 in the funeral home chapel from 2-8PM and after 9AM on Saturday until time of service.
