The funeral for Andrew L. Mayer , 79, Route 1, Heuvelton-Rensselaer Falls Road, retired bakery business operator, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Heuvelton United Methodist Church with the Rev. William Hanlon, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park, Ogdensburg.

Mr. Mayer died at 5 a.m. Monday at his home after an illness of several months.

Surviving are his wife, Elfrieda; a brother, two sisters, seven nieces, five nephews and several cousins.

He was born May 25, 1911, in the Bronx, a son of Andreas and Barbara Matz Mayer. He served in the Army during World War II.

He married Elfrieda Sirnik Oct. 30, 1954, at the Chapel of Alte Hofburg, Vienna, Austria.

The couple lived in New York City, where Mr. Mayer was employed in the bakery business with his father. He later took the business over and operated it until his retirement in 1984. The couple moved to Heuvelton at that time.

Mr. Mayer was a member of the Heuvelton United Methodist Church. He was an avid reader and enjoyed bird watching.
