On January 5, 1859, there was born to Shelrey S. and Isabella Haley a daughter, Rhoda Ann, near Lacona, Iowa, and the record of her life was completed on Sunday afternoon. Dec. 3, 1944, after a span of more than 85 years.

It was in Harrison and mercer counties in Missouri that she grew to womanhood. She then moved to Cloud county, Ks., in 1883. Here she met Ambrose Cochran, to whom she was married on April 30, 1885, at Salina, Ks.

To them were born six children, twin daughters Rena and Edna passing away in infancy.

After a short residence on the Heath ranch near Windom they moved to their home northeast of Little River in Rice county, where they resided for more than 56 years. Owing to failing health they moved, in November 1943, to the Anderson Colonial Home in McPherson.

Their home was open to all and their hospitality well known. No one was turned away hungry or in want of a bed if they could provide it.

Mrs. Cochran was a friend to all, numbering her friends wherever she was known. And, she could see sunshine where others could see only clouds. Tirelessly active she seemingly knew not how to complain.

In 1935 they celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary.

Her companion preceded her in death on November 18, 1944, only a little more than six weeks before her death.

[Illegible] Albert U. of Saint Helena, Calif.; Earl L. of Douglas, Nebr.; Cora A Hunsinger of McPherson; and Jerre C. of Lamar; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. There are two sisters. Mrs. Mary Cochran of Hollis, Ks., and Mrs. Annie Fouts of McPherson; three brothers, Will and Wes, of Terry, Mont., and Bert of Raymond, Wash.; many nieces and nephews and other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the Congregational church Tuesday, Dec. 5, with Percy L. Perry in charge. Interment was in Little River cemetery by the side of her husband.

Pall bearers were: Cecil Case, Charles Hunsinger, Cary Everett, Frank Myers and Walter Snell.
