Wilson was the tenth child of fifteen born to Adrion Carson and Jane Conley Carson.

On October 3, 1878, Wilson married Sarah Jane Border who was about ten years younger (1880 census). They had one child, Charles Henry Wilson Carson (Charley), born 30 March 1881. Charles died 28 mar 1909 in Nebraska and is buried in Lincoln county, NE, in the Peckham cemetery. Charley is Findagrave id 45261647.

Wilson's wife Sarah Jane Border (Charles' mother) remarried after Wilson's death to Delbert Atkinson on 24 Nov. 1886 in Lincoln County, Nebraska. She is buried in Peckham Cemetery and is Findagrave id 45261592.
