Mrs. Elizabeth Giles Rasband was born in England, April 11, 1826. She was married to Thomas Rasband at Lincoln, England, January 25, 1847. Five years later they embraced the gospel and came to American. They stopped a year or two at Quincy, Ill., and then came to Utah arriving here in August, 1856. They settled at Provo where they lived until the spring of 1860 when they came to Heber among the first settlers of this valley. Her husand died at Heber on the 24th day of July, 1884. She passed through many trials and hardships in gathering with the Saints in the valleys of the Rocky Mountains and in settleing this valley. She was the mother of ten children, seven of whom are still living. She passed away Oct. 15, 1900, at Park City, the cause being old age, heart disease, and pneumonia.
