Anna Ruth Burgess Bang, age 74, a native of Houlka, Miss. and a resident of Moss Point, Miss. for over 57 years, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, at her residence.
She retired from the Moss Point School System in 1987. Mrs. Bang attended Orange Grove Assembly of God Church for over 55 years where she was a charter member, served as Sunday School teacher and church secretary treasurer for over 40 years, and was an active member of the WM's, the church ladies group. She was a loving wife, caring mother, and the very best grandmother and great-grandmother anyone could have.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Roland and Nettie Lora Vance Burgess; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rev. Ira Day and Margaret Seaman Bang; four brothers, Mitchell, James, Leroy and J.R. Burgess; three sisters, Adell Lucius, Nettie Belle Tallant and Elaine Haney; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert P. "Bob" and Annie "Boots" Gordon.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Herbert Louie "H. L." Bang; one son, Ira H. "Herbie" Bang; two daughters, Vivian Angela Jones (Rev. Clarence R.) and Charlotte Gayle Young (Rev. Steven E.) all of Moss Point, Miss.; one brother, Dr. Duane Burgess (Virginia) of Hattiesburg, Miss.; six grandchildren, David R. Jones of Mobile, Ala., Kenneth I. Jones (Karri) of Gilbertown, Ala.; Ira H. Bang, II (Stephanie) of Moss Point, Miss., Anna Young Mills (Jabe) of Piave, Miss., Amber Nicole Young and Jeffery Daniel Jones both of Moss Point, Miss.; four great-grandchildren, Keldon McKenzie Jones, Kennedy Lauren Jones, Ira Day Bang, and Audrie Diane Bang; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 1, 2005, from 6-9 p.m., at Holder-Wells Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2005, at 1 p.m., in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will be in Orange Grove Cemetery.
