Philomena M. Hermesch, 84, Adams, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2006, at her residence. She was born November 24, 1921, in Batesville, the daughter of Frank and Leona (Staubach) Suttmiller. She was a graduate of Batesville High School.
She married Charles C. Hermesch on December 26, 1940, in Batesville. He predeceased her.
She worked at the Canning Factory in Milroy and Carol Cooks Garment Factory in Greensburg. She also worked at Greensburg Lincoln Nursing Home where she earned her Dietitian's Degree. She was also a part time cook at the city restaurant. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary, member of the Ladies of the Moose, and a member of the Senior Citizens of Greensburg and Milford.
She is survived by seven daughters: Virginia (Ron) Kellerman, Betty R. Marting, Cora (John) Newby, Ruth (Steve) Fulton, all of Greensburg, Mary McDonald of Westport, Linda Newman of Edinburgh, and Anna Riggans of Waldron; three sons: Charles J. and John (Jackie) Hermesch, both of Greensburg, and Thomas (Lana) Hermesch of Batesville; sister Maryann Metz of Harrison, OH; three brothers: Joseph Suttmiller of Pierceville, OH, Benedict Suttmiller, Hamilton, OH, and Dennis Suttmiller of Madison, OH; 28 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, one daughter: Dorothy Barber; one sister: Genevie Schook; and three brothers: Cornelus, Frank, and Fr. Francis Suttmiller of Batesville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 12, 2006, at 10 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg. Msgr. Harold Knueven will be officiating.
Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home Wednesday, January 11, 2006 from 3-7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Decatur County Hospice.
