TRAGEDY STRIKES NEW ARRIVALS IN TAPPEN.
SALMON ARM. -- Tragedy struck the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Pearson, formerly of New Westminster, who recently arrived in Tappen.
Their daughter, Carole Elaine, aged three and a half years, passed away in Salmon arm General Hospital.
While the family was moving from the coast in a caravan in May the wagon was struck by an automobile near Hope. Mrs. Pearson and Carole Elaine were both injured. Although both appeared to be recovering, it is believed the injuries sustained by the child were the cause of her death.
The Pearsons spent some days in Kamloops in the course of their trek from the coast, waiting for the flood waters to go down.
Carole is survived by her parents, James and Lil Pearson; one brother, Garry; one sister, Doreen
The funeral was held from the Little Church at Tappen on July 10, 1948, Rev. A. B. Craig, rector of St. John's Anglican Church, Salmon Arm officiating.
Interment was in Tappen cemetery. Arrangements were in the care of Thomas Bowers Funeral Home, Salmon Arm, B.C..
