A funeral service for Geraldine "Gerry" Cooperrider, 85, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, with Pastor Peter Becker officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery, where a graveside service will be conducted.

Mrs. Cooperrider, who was retired from Klines Department Store and the Newark School System as a lunch server, died Dec. 30, 2002, at the Newark Healthcare Centre, where she had made her home. She was born May 8, 1917, in Somerset, to John and Della (Dilts) Mautz.

She is survived by one sister, Gladys Sterrett of Sugar Creek; two sons, Terry and Shirley Cooperrider and William and Connie Cooperrider; four grandchildren, Shawn Decker, Patrick Cooperrider, Mathew Cooperrider and Jason Cooperrider; and five great-grandchildren, all of Newark.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Cooperrider; three brothers, Charles Mautz, Paul Mautz and Forrest "Bus" Mautz; and three sisters, Helen Brooks, Margarette Stalter and Mildred Danison.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 126 W. Church St., Hospice of Central Ohio, 1984 Coffman Road, or Newark Church of Christ, 179 O'Bannon Ave.
