Zachariah Lee Shackelford died at 9:55 o'clock yesterday morning in his residence, 1033 Prentis avenue, Prentis Place, at the age of 62 years.

For the last forty years Mr. Shackelford made his home in this city, coming here from Gloucester county, Va., where he was born. For about thirty years he had been a contracting painter in Portsmouth.

For the last year his health was gradually failing, but not until last Tuesday was he obliged to take to his bed.

Two sons, William H. Shackelford and John L. Shackelford, survive him.

Mr. Shackelford held membership in Naval Lodge No. 100 A. F. & A. M., and was also a member of Annex Fire Fire Company No. 2.

As a tribute of respect to his memory, the bell in the Annex headquarters was tolled yesterday morning, after his death.

The funeral service will take place at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the Shackelford residence. It will be attended by the Annex Fire Company, No. 5, in a body.
