William Henry Stormoen, 81, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Tomah, following an illness with cancer.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Roseberry's Funeral Home in Friendship. The Rev. Dan Winkelman will officiate. Interment will be in the South Arkdale Cemetery. Military rites will be offered by the Adams Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6279, the Adams American Legion Red Cloud Post No. 250 and the Grand Marsh American Legion Snyder-Richardson Post No. 273.

Willie was born Nov. 3, 1923, in Arkdale to Ole and Sine (Johnson) Stormoen. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Battle of the Bulge and became a prisoner of war. He married Joy Quipp on Oct. 23, 1952. This marriage ended in divorce.
Willie worked for Consolidated Papers in Wisconsin Rapids for many years, retiring in 1985. He retired to Hayward. Willie returned to Wisconsin Rapids in 2001.

Willie enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and playing darts. He was a member of the Masons, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include two sons, Quintin Stormoen of Amherst and Danny Stormoen of Sarasota, Fla.; two daughters, Pamela Johnson and Cheryl Resheske, both of Wisconsin Rapids; eight grandchildren, Keith Stormoen, Matthew Stormoen, William Stormoen, Seth Stormoen, Amy Stormoen, Heather Wachsmuth, Jamie Resheske and Adam Resheske; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Sylvia Webb of Fairfield, Calif., Cora Hage of Necedah, Orpha Lilek, of Cape Coral, Fla., and Betty (Rusty) Owens of Friendship; and one brother, Orin Stormoen of Arkdale.

Willie was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Henry Stormoen; parents, Ole and Sine Stormoen Sr.; and brothers and sisters, Addie Speas, George Stormoen, Laura Chaffee, Ole Elmer Stormoen, Inga Strand, Selmar Stormoen, Arthur Stormoen, Donald Stormoen and Ole Stormoen Jr.

Visitation will be Wednesday at Roseberry's from 9:30 a.m. until time of services.
