Wife of Robert Elliott. Daughter of Jesse Wiandt and Mahala Renneker.

The Herald Patriot, Chariton, Lucas County, Iowa, April 30, 1937

Mrs. Catherine Elliott
Mrs. Catherine Elliott died unexpectedly at her home in Pleasant township on Friday afternoon, April 23, 1937, at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 29 days. Mrs. Elliott had lived in Pleasant township for forty-eight years.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. A. E. Beals, of Russell, were held at the Zion church Sunday afternoon at two o'clock, and burial was in the Zion cemetery. Pall bearers were six of her grandsons, Collins, James and Junior Fluke, Vance Elliott, Caryl Whitlatch and Robert McLeish.
Catherine Wiandt was born near Newcomerstown, Ohio, on June 25 1854, and was the seventh child of Jesse and Mahala Wiandt. She grew to womanhood in the community where she was born and was married there on December 31, 1881 to Robert Elliott. They came to Newton, Iowa in 1883 where they lived three years then moved to Kansas. They came back to Iowa in 1889, locating on the farm in Pleasant township, Lucas county, Iowa, where the remainder of her life was spent, and where her husband preceded her in death on April 6, 1910.
While she had not been feeling well her condition was not thought to be serious. On Friday afternoon she had been conversing with her granddaughter and some friends and apparently feeling tired she closed her eyes as if to sleep, when death came suddenly. All efforts to arouse her were of no avail. She had gone to be with her Savior.
Mrs. Elliott will be greatly missed by friends and neighbors. She was a faithful attendant at all church services near her home as long as her health permitted, She was a loyal friend and a splendid neighbor.
She leaves to mourn her passing four children, Mrs. Carrie A. Fluke, Des Moines; Mrs. Martha E. Wishart, Chariton; Thomas H. Elliott, Newton; and Robert N. Elliott, living on the home place; eighteen grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren, two sisters and three brothers.
Among those in attendance at the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Fluke and sons, Collins and Junior, Mr. and Mrs. Robt. McLeish and Miss Thelma Elliott, Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Elliott and son, Vance, and daughter, Virginia, Newton; Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Wishart, Chariton.
