Hamblin, Robert D., Sr., 65, of Belspring, died Saturday, November 9, 1996 in Carilion Radford Community Hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was owner/operator of Midway Grocery on Belspring Road for 34 years. He was a member of the Belspring United Methodist Church, the Fairlawn Lions Club and the Virginia May Lodge #38 AF & AM. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Lillie Adkins Hamblin, Belspring; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert D. and Alice Hamblin, Jr., Belspring, Keith and Becky Hamblin, Belspring; a son, Dennis Hamblin, North Wilkesboro, N. C.; a brother, Clarence Hamblin, Dublin; a sister, Darlene Hamblin Argabright, Winston-Salem, N. C.; two beloved grandchildren, Alan Hamblin and Beth Hamblin, Belspring. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 11, 1996 at the DeVilbiss Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ernest Chinault, the Rev. Will Shewey and the Rev. Lee Sarver officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pulaski County Life Saving Crew or to the Twin Community Fire Department. Virginia May Lodge #38 AF & AM will conduct Masonic graveside services. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Roanoke Times, Nov. 10, 1996
