William Worth Barney was born July 22, 1896 in Bentonville, Arkansas. He was the son of William Worth and Jennie E. (Martin) Barney.
MILITARY RECORD:
Enlisted in the U.S. Army on December 11, 1926 at Ft. Douglas, Utah. Discharged as a Sergeant. Re-enlisted December 17, 1929 at Ft. Mills, P.I. Discharged May 15, 1943 at Fort Lewis, Washington with rank of MSgt. Pension awarded on Certificate No. 14 017 894.
Mr. Barney never married. He had lived in Washington state since his discharge from the Army. His brother, Algernon Barney, lived in Silverdale. On January 31, 1963, he was at the V.A. Hospital in Seattle when he applied for admission to the Washington Veterans' Home in Retsil. A double amputee, he expressed a desire to enter the Soldier's Home than to depend on a friend to get his groceries, etc.
Mr. Barney passed away December 13, 1964 at the Veterans' Home. He was buried in the Veteran's Home Cemetery.
