NICKERSON - Guy C. Houston, 82, died July 11, 1982, at Hutchinson Hospital after a short illness. Born Feb 14, 1900, at Prairie Hill, Mo., he married Ruby J. Wright May 24, 1921, at Moberly, Mo. He began his teaching career in 1921 at Langdon, moving to Nickerson in 1944 where he was principal of Nickerson Grade School, retiring in 1965. He worked as Clerk of District 309 Board of Education for nine years.
He was a member of First Christian Church, Nickerson, where he was an elder emeritus; member of Nickerson Masonic Lodge 43 AF&AM, order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 33, National Retired Teachers Association, and charter member of Nickerson Lions Club.
Survivors: widow of the home; son, David L., Indianapolis, Ind.; sister Sarah Minor, Fayette, Mo.; brother Carl, Columbia, Mo.; two grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church, Nickerson, the Rev. Ted Chrystie. Masonic graveside services will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Gustafson-Lamb Funeral Home, Nickerson. Memorials to the church.
