GREENWOOD, LA - Services celebrating the life of Anis Bell, 86, will be held Saturday, May 23, 2009, 11:30 am, at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Reverend Ken Fryer, Dr. Joe Bob Alexander and Reverend William Green. Interment will follow in Forest Park Cemetery, St.Vincent Ave.

Anis was born to Dan and Julie Hall Bell, May 11, 1923, in Castor, LA. He went to be with his heavenly Father, May 19, 2009, following a lengthy illness.

Anis was a loyal servant to his Lord and a devoted worker in his church, the First Baptist Church of Greenwood. Mr. Bell served his country with the U.S. Air Force, during WWII, as a radio operator and a tail gunner on the B24. He flew 40 missions over the Pacific, out of Darwin, Australia. He was, also, very active in the Pioneer Club. Anis was a loving husband and a good father who loved the Lord. He will be dearly missed.

Preceding Mr. Bell in death were his parents; brothers, Jack, Wiley, Poley, James, Oliver and Lonnie Bell; sisters, Ida Hayes, Laura Thomas and Lola Hill; granddaughter, Tonya Latona; special friends, Bobby Joe and Glen King.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 65 years, Minnie Lee Bell; sons, Harry Bell and wife, Susan, of Adkins, Texas and, Michael Bell of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren, Michelle Bell and Christina Mutz; great-grandchildren, Milan Latona, Saul Bell, Isiah Bell and Tyler Mutz

Pallbearers will be Jerry Lemley, Troy Myers, Johnnie Stewart, John Griffith, Brad Edwards and nephew, Benny Bell. Honorary pallbearers will be Owen Adams, Ronnie Payne, C.T. King and nephew, Dophous Bell.

The family wishes to extend a special "Thank You" to Dr. James Jackson and the entire nursing staff of Cornerstone, for the loving care given to Anis while in their care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider memorials to the First Baptist Church of Greenwood Building Fund.
