Fourth son of John MAGUIRE (born 1693), of County Cavan, by his wife Martha BUCK; grandson of Bryan McConagher MAGUIRE, a retired Jacobite Officer (Seige of Crom Castle, 1689) later of Clara, near Redhills, County Cavan, by his Protestant wife Mary LLOYD; sib to Matthew, John, William and Martha.
Probably of Ballyhaise, Parish of Castleterra, County Cavan, 1759; held the lease of a farm at Mullalougher, County Cavan, from Colonel Thomas NEWBURGH of Ballyhaise; went to Dublin in 1777, at the urging of Martha, wife of William CRADOCK (Dean of St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin), widow of Colonel Thomas NEWBURGH of Ballyhaise, and daughter of Henry CARY of Dungiven, County Londonderry, and who had a "particular liking" for Letitia MAGUIRE alias PHAYRE.
Thomas was appointed Sexton of St Patrick's Cathedral, in the room of Fergus GIBBONS, 21 March 1779, and while William CRADDOCK was Dean.
Thomas was married at Ballyhaise, 6 April 1763, to Letitia PHAIR, of Kilmore, County Cavan.
