Lorraine Davis, 79, Kennedy, died at her home Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004.
Lorraine Hegge was born at Eldred, Aug. 29, 1924, the daughter of Klemmet and Rachel Hegge. She grew up near Eldred and graduated from Climax High School in Climax.
During WWII Lorraine worked at a Minneapolis ammunitions plant. Following the war she worked as a waitress at several Twin Cities restaurants and cafes.
In 1947 she married Edward B. Davis in Bloomington. They owned and operated E.B. Davis Blacksmithing and Welding there for many years.
In 1961 they bought a small dairy farm near Clearbrook. They operated the dairy farm until 1965 when they moved to Kennedy.
Lorraine worked at the Variety Store and the Red Cedar Inn at Kennedy and in her later years she helped out at the Senior Center there.
Family members include two sons, Charles Davis,Grand Forks; John Davis, Kennedy; a daughter, Donna Hanson, Redding, Calif.; a grandson, David, Redding, Calif.; three granddaughters, Lindsay Davis, Grand Forks; Nancy Davis, Grand Forks, and Jean (Scott) Luck also of Grand Forks; two great grandchildren, Dayton and McKayla Luck; two sisters, Myrtle Moen, Crookston and Elsie Higgins, Shawnee Mission, Kansas; a step daughter, Loni Mitchell, Petaluma, Calif.; a step son, Edward Allan; a daughter-in-law, Janna Davis, Kennedy; three sisters-in-law, Alice Hegge, Climax; Gunda Hegge, Oklee and Aldene Hegge, East Grand Forks as well as nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Allan; five brothers, Orris, Irvin, Clifford, Floyd and Glenn; and three sisters, Angeline, Ruth and Gladys.
Funeral services were 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, Maria Lutheran Church, Kennedy. Burial will be in the Kennedy Cemetery. Rev. Barb Hansen presided.
Pallbearers were James Dahl, Ronald Hegge, Chris Swenson, Scott Luck, Ricky Moen, Joe Mun, Dave Morken and Keith Dale.
