She was born Dec. 12, 1940 in Leitchfield, the daughter of the late Robert and Louella (Peckenpaugh) Skeeters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Frankie Newman and Donald Smith; one grandson, Terry Lee Everhart; two brothers, Jimmy Skeeters and John Skeeters; and one sister, Linda McAfee.
She is survived by her husband, Sherman "Nick" Nichols of Hillsboro; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Laura Smith of Vine Grove; two daughters, Crystal (Albert Fry, fiancé) Newman of Hillsboro and Donna Everhart of Leesburg, Ohio; two sisters, Sharon Peterson of Louisville and Patricia Price of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren, Celerna Bowen, Shane Taylor, Aija Taylor, Zach Schmitz, Hunter Damron, Terra Lee Jade Fry and Sheyann Smith; and a great-granddaughter, Brianna Star Bowen.
The funeral service is at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2009, at Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro with the Rev. Wiley Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in Hightop Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home.
