Charles Oyer, 83, former Waverly resident, died at the Hamilton Court Rest Home in Columbus Tuesday afternoon. He had been ill for five years.
A native of Pike County, he was born July 29, 1871, a son of Charles and Hanna Zonner Oyer. He was a retired Norfolk and Western Railway stationary engineer, retiring 18 years ago.
Surviving are four sons, Donald of Dayton, Virgil and Harland of Columbus and Glen of Chillicothe; three daughters, Mrs. C.M. Brown of Columbus, Mrs. Lloyd Volker of Fairborn and Mrs. Leona Justice of Waverly; four brothers, Jesse of Waverly, Fred of Richmond Dale, William of Mechanicsburg and Edward of Greenfield; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Uhrig and Ms. Margaret Mack of Chillicothe; 22 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. His wife died in 1948.
Services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at Boyer Funeral Home where friends may call Thursday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
