Leo Ray Sweetapple, 71, of Bullion, Kennerdell, R.D. 2, died at 9:05 p.m. Sunday in Bradford Hospital. He was born May 2. 1882. in Holland, N. Y., the son of Jesse and Harriet Van Dickson Sweetapple. He married Christina M. French in Franklin, Dec. 18, 1905. Rev. F. D. Ellenberger performed the ceremony.
A veteran oil man in the oil fields of the county, he served as field foreman for the Pat Oil Co. until his retirement in 1950. He resided most of his life in the Clintonville vicinity until a month ago when he moved to Crosby, McKean County. He was a member of the Hickory Grove Church of God.
Surviving are: His wife, of Crosby; four sons, Theodore J., Youngstown, O.; Sherman F., of Kennerdell; Leo Dean, of Youngstown; and Wilbur L., of Kennerdell; a daughter, Mrs. Velma Eakin, of Kennerdell, R.D. 2. Also surviving are: A brother, Arnold M. of Crosby; four sisters, Mrs. Gladys Antill, Richfield Park, N.J.; Mrs. Mildred Daugherty, Kennerdell, R.D. 2; Mrs. Jessie N. Witherup, Emlenton, R.D. 2; and Mrs. Ethel Ivell, of Tyrone; another sister, Mrs. Sarah Morrison, of Terry, N.Y., died in 1952; six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The body was removed to the Womer Funeral Home where services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p. m. Rev. W. C. McCallister, Pastor of the Hickory Grove Church of God, will officiate and interment will be in the Clintonville Methodist Cemetery.
