CURRY (Jamason), Ava L. Formerly of Xenia, Ohio passed away on Monday, June 22, 2015 at the age of 102 in Higganum, CT. She was born on October 28, 1912 in Wilmington, Ohio. Ava was one of fourteen children born to the union of Benjamin Harrison and Rebecca (Simpson) Jamason and of this union there is one surviving siblings, Elaine Myers of Dayton. Ava's education began in a one-room school house. She graduated from Bellbrook High School and attended Wilberforce University in Wilberforce, Ohio where she studied Business Management. Ava worked as a Supervisor for the McCall's Magazine Printing Press Co. She married Leo Dean Curry in 1932 and they started a family in Dayton, Ohio raising two children, Leo V. Curry, Jr., and Carol E. Crayton. The family then moved to Xenia, Ohio where she faithfully attended the United AME Church of Xenia. Ava was a prolific writer and historian for the Simpson's & Jamason's family reunions until her health no longer permitted. She was preceded in death by her husband and son; five brothers, Harvey, John, Benjamin, Lloyd, and Latney Jamason; five sisters; Inez, Winona Gay, Alberta V. McClung, Ruth Barker, and Althea M. Jamason. Survivors include her daughter, Carol E. (James) Crayton of Higganum, CT., three grandchildren, Leo Curry, III of Dayton; Marc Crayton of Higganum, CT., and Ava Crayton of New York and a host of nieces and nephews of Dayton & Xenia, Ohio. Funeral services for Mrs. Ava L. Curry were held on Monday, June 29, 2015 in Higganum, CT., where she was laid to rest.
