Ravia, OK — A celebration of life for Ruby Clara Wadlow will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at the Ravia Baptist Church, Ravia, Okla., at 2 p.m. Interment will be in McGee Cemetery, Stratford, Okla.


Born June 15, 1921, in Stratford, Okla., Ruby entered her heavenly home on May 16, 2009, surrounded by her children in Ardmore, Okla. The eleventh of 12 children, she was preceded in death by her parents, T.H. Bratcher and Alice Edwards Bratcher.


Ruby and Freddie Glee Wadlow were married on July 28, 1942. Freddie preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 1984. To this union six children were born. Sharon, the oldest, passed from this life on Nov. 15, 1986. Surviving children include Carole Savage, Freida Elmore, Joan Rawson, Phillip Wadlow and Mark Wadlow. Other survivors include 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Bill Bratcher and Shortie Bratcher.


Ruby was a loving mother and devoted member of the Ravia Baptist Church. She had the gift of being a wonderful cook as evidenced by the many meals she prepared for her family, church family and friends. She had an artistic ability to grow a showcase flower garden and make "designer" quilts. Her unselfish talents were shared with family and friends in the gift of a cherished quilt, a plant "start" or fresh bouquet.


Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Andrews, Finis Hallmark, Roger Hallmark, Dalt Hook, Milton Hester and Bill Ramey.
