NEWS-PRESS May 20, 1986 - Mary Leitner Alvrus, 78, of Fort Myers, died May 18. Born in Estero, Fla, she had been a lifetime resident of Lee County. She was the daughter of K. A. and Ada Bedell Leitner and was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Alvrus in 1976. She was a member of the Lee Memorial United Methodist Church of Bonita Springs, Caloosahatchee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Leatitia Ashmore Nutt Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Lee County Pioneer Club and the Magna Carta Dames.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann White and two sons, Jack and Bobby Alvrus, all of Fort Myers; son-in-law Gene White and daughter-in-law Vivian Alvrus; three sisters: Sarah L Burke, her twin sister of Fort Myers, Alice L. Conner of Tampa, Fla, and Doris L. Barfield of Clermont, Fla., grandchilren: Leanne, Sarah, Mary Jewel, Eugene White, Analisa, Rebekka and Jackson Alvrus.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 31 at 2 p.m. at the North Fort Myers Funeral Home, 820 Pondella Rd with Rev. Waldo Farabee officiating. The family will receive friends today from 2-4 and 6-8 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fort Myers City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Walter Burke Jr., James Conner, Doug Conner and Robert Thibodeau, Robert Smith, Lewis Leitner Jr. and Lionel Barfield. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Smith, George Smith, John McCullers, Angus Alvarez, Carl Alvarez, Ray Alvarez Jr. and Ted Alvarez.
