CATHERINE JONES
Malad - Mrs. Catherine Evan Jones, 87, of Malad, died Saturday at her home after an extended illness.
Mrs. Jones was born Dec. 9, 1870, in Malad, a daughter of W. W. and Mary Jones Evans. She was married to David E. Jones in 1889 in Malad. He died 17 years ago.
She was a member of the LDS Church and had been a Relief Society block teacher. She was a member of the War Mothers.
Surviving are three sons and five daughters, David E. Jones, Malad; William J. Jones, Arco, Idaho; R. L. Jones, Nampa, Idaho; Mrs. Edward T. (Elizabeth) Owens, Malad; Mrs. Grant (Catherine) Morgan, Salt Lake City; Mrs. E. R. (Mabel) Jones and Mrs. Clyde (Margaret) Williams, Boise, Idaho; Mrs. Roald F. (Della) Campbell, Chicago; a foster son, Grant Ripley, Ogden; 23 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters, Evan J. Evans, Gomer J. Evans, Mrs. Annie Ripley, all of Malad; Mrs. Effie Smith, Downey, Calif.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the LDS Malad First Ward Chapel by Bishop G. Howard Neal. Friends may call at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Edward Owens, 336 N. Main, tonight and tomorrow until services. Burial in Malad City Cemetery, directed by the Benson Funeral Home.
