CLEARFIELD--Mack Walker Brown, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away January 1, 1999 of complications following a stroke.

He was born December 5, 1928, the third child of Orlow McFerson and Ida Walker Brown. He married Ruby Mae Christensen, October 25, 1956, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are the parents of four children, Jeffrey M. (Cherylann) Brown, Scott C. (Kaylyn) Brown, Linda S. Bassett and Ida M. (Glen) Larsen.

Mack was a lifelong resident of Clearfield. He graduated from Davis High School and attended Weber State College and Brigham Young University. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army in Panama. He was a volunteer fireman for the Clearfield Fire Department for many years. He worked as a Customer Engineer for IBM, retiring with over 25 years of service.

He was a member of the LDS church and served in many positions, including councilor to several Bishops and as stake and ward clerk. He served a mission to the Southwest Indian Mission.

His proudest accomplishment and his favorite hobby was his family. His grandchildren adored him for his ability to make them feel special. He had a listening ear and a funny story for any in need. Grandpa could fix anything. He loved to go on drives and would look for any excuse to spend time with Ruby traveling. We will miss his gentle ways and his common sense and his great capacity for showing love. Many are grateful that they knew him and will have special memories of Mack.

He is survived by his wife, four children and 20 grandchildren. Also two brothers, Keith Brown and Ben Brown; and two sisters, Carol Compton and Joan Dearden.
