Rev Joe Dean died at his home at Lecta Monday night at the age of 71 years after a lingering illness. He is survived by his wife who was a Miss Key, and one daughter Mrs Sam Bowles of Slick Rock. One brother survives, Mr Ed Dean of Lecta. Bro Dean was a native of the section in which he died and was a local minister of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The remains were interred in the cemetery at New Salem

THE DEATH OF REV. W. J. DEAN, AGE 71, AT LECTA
Rev. W. J. Dean, age 71, died at his home near Lecta Monday night of last week. Death was caused by infirmities of age. Surviving are one daughter, George Ann Bowles, near Slick Rock, and his wife, Mrs. W. J. Dean; a brother, Mr. M. E. Dean, of Lecta, also survives.
Rev. Dean was well-known man and leading citizen, and his death caused much sorrow. He had been in the ministry 25 years, and was one of God’s noblemen.
Burial at New Salem church.
