Mrs. Stone passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2009.
Jan was born on March 27, 1943 in Dumas, to Lawrence and Esther Brotherton. She graduated from Canyon High School in 1961. She married Tom Stone on September 3, 1965 in Canyon.
Jan was an active square dancer and enjoyed traveling the country on a motorcycle with Tom. She was also active in civic and professional organizations.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Cinnamon Stone of Lubbock; one son, Colby and wife Martha Stone of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Melody, Xander, and Avery Stone; two sisters, Alice Naas and Janie Mann; and two brothers, Larry and Richie Brotherton.

Jan Stone, 66, was a passenger on the motorcycle her husband was riding in Brewster County when the accident occurred. Apparently the rear tire on the 1993 Honda motorcycle lost air. Control of the motorcycle was lost and it rolled. The Stones were not wearing helmets. Thomas Stone suffered minor injuries.
