Mrs. Marie Louise Barbeau, 73, mother of Mrs. Mark Meehan, 20 Roselyn Drive, died yesterday afternoon at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur L. Barbeau of 1009 State Road, North Adams, following a long illness.
A native of St. Jacques, Canada, Mrs. Barbeau was the widow of Louis, who was, until his death, a veteran Berkshire Street Railway motorman in North Adams. Mrs. Barbeau had lived in Adams and North Adams more than 50 years. She attended Notre Dame Church in North Adams, and was a member of the Ladies of Charity.
Survivors, in addition to her daughter, Mrs. Meehan, and her son, Arthur, are three other daughters, Mrs. Irene Fontaine and Mrs. Carolyn Means of North Adams, and Mrs. Helen Sikora of Adams; also three brothers, Dieudonne Chalifoux, LaColle, Canada; Roch of Lewiston, Me., and Louis of North Adams, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 9 at Notre Dame with a solemn high mass of requiem. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.
The body rests at the San Soucie Funeral Home, North Adams, where the family will meet friends tonight from 7 to 10 and tomorrow from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10.
