Robert S. Mowchan, 68, Ramey, passed away at 2:00 p.m. on May 13 at his residence.
He was born on June 24, 1940 in Ramey, a son of the late Steven and Margaret (Sasala) Mowchan.
He was a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey, a 1958 graduate of the Moshannon Valley High School and served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Mowchan retired in 2005 as a custodian from the Moshannon Valley School District, Houtzdale, and prior to that he worked at the former Piper Air Craft Plant in Quehanna, PA.
He was a councilman on the Ramey Boro. Council for many years.
On Aug. 4, 1978 in St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church he married Diana McDermott Mowchan who survives of Ramey.
He is survived by a daughter, Allison Mowchan-Smeal and her husband Todd of Houtzdale, and a grandson, Isaac S. Smeal also of Houtzdale.
Four sisters survive; Betty Brown and her husband Joe of Maumee, OH., Peggy Murawski of Morann., Pat Davis and her husband Bill of Houtzdale, and Barb Murawski and her husband John of Houtzdale. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Mowchan, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Vera McDermott and a brother-in-law, Gary Murawski.
At the request of Mr. Mowchan there will be no public visitation and a funeral service will be held private at Kruise Funeral Home, Inc., Ramey, with Rev. Fr. Gregory A. Kirsch officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery, Houtzdale.
