Helen Calder Larson, 89, passed away of causes incident to age at the home of her son, in Orem, Utah on September 20, 2000.

She was born August 15, 1911 in Vernal, Utah to Wallace Calder and May Hacking. Helen attended schools in Vernal, Utah. She graduated with honors from Brigham Young University and taught foods and nutrition classes at Uintah High School in Vernal. She married Rudolph Vernon Larson in the Salt Lake Temple on June 6, 1938. They lived in Smithfield, Utah; Tacoma, Washington; Vernal, Utah; and Roosevelt, Utah. He died in 1967.

She devoted her life to her family and to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many ward and stake positions. She was a missionary in the Arkansas, Little Rock Mission. She also volunteered with the American Cancer Society and other civic organizations. She did extensive genealogical research, and published family histories. She and her husband spent many Thursdays traveling from Roosevelt to Salt Lake City to attend the temple. In 1969, Helen moved to Provo, Utah and lived there until 1995 when she moved to Orem, Utah.

She is survived by her six children: Ralph (Gerri), Orem; Jon (Sally), Midvale; Carl (Margaret), Spanish Fork; Paul (Mirriam), Cedar City; Ann (Peter Ellis), Ogden; Don (Rebecca), Blanding; 36 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Melba Allred (Charles); four brothers, Neldon; Earl (Afton); Paul (Geri); Glade (Arlene); and a sister-in-law Norma Calder; along with many other cherished relatives. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her brother Lloyd, and baby sister Neva, and great-granddaughter Elizabeth Rae Beane.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 25, 2000 at 12 noon at the Sunset Heights 7th Ward Chapel, 400 West 1200 South, Orem. Friends may call at Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center Street, on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the chapel on Monday morning one hour prior to services. Interment, Smithfield City Cemetery.

The family extends special thanks to Utah's Heritage Hospice for their kind service. The family suggests contributions to the LDS Missionary fund or to the American Cancer Society.
