Daniel Lingofelter was born in Putnam County, Ohio on February 5, 1823, and died at his home near Syracuse, February 19, 1908, aged 85 years, 14 days.

He married Elizabeth Deardorff some sixty years ago. She died May 18, 1861.

They had 7 children, Martin and Catherine of Indiana, Alford of Kansas, William of California, George of North Dakota, and Sarah and Andrew preceded him in death. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Sarah Long of Kansas; 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

In Jun 1862 he married his second wife, Margaret Alice Lavering, to which union was born 2 children. With his wife, they preceded him in death. After the death of his second wife, he lived with children, Martin Lingofelter and Catherine Evans.

He was a member of the German Baptist Church. Obsequies were at the German Baptist Church in Syracuse Sunday, but owing to the absence of a son, the interment was not made until Monday. [Democrat 2-27-1908, Noble County Indiana]
