Evelyn Henrietta Young, daughter of Henry and Helen (Kurth) Hanson, was born on April 14, 1916 at Bloomfield, NE. Evelyn attended country school near Bloomfield. She was baptized on May 28, 1916 and made her Affirmation of Faith (Confirmation) at St. Mark's Lutheran Church on March 29, 1931.
She married Reed Wesley Young on November 30, 1935 at Yankton, S.D. To this union five children were born: Dale, Jerry, Judy, Doyle, and Debbie. Reed died at Wakefield, NE on April 6, 1961.
Evelyn lived at Bloomfield and worked at the Yankton State Hospital until her retirement.
Evelyn Young died on Saturday, August 3, 2002, at the Bloomfield Good Samaritan Care Center at the age of 86 years, 3 months, and 20 days. Her funeral is at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, on Tuesday, April 6, 2002. Internment will be a the Bloomfield Cemetery.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Reed, her sons: Dale, Doyle, and Jerry; and her brother, Norman.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters Judy and Lorin Miller of Bloomfield, Deb Diekmann of Pierce, her daughter-in-law Judy Carlson of Wausa, and family friend, Karen Broders of Pierce. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. Her three sisters: Esther (Wilbur) Jensen of Blair, Martha (Julius) Beckmann of Center, and Helen (Jack) Smith of Des Moines, IA, and one brother, Harold (Shirley) Hanson of Plainview, also survive, along with many extended family members and friends.
