Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Henry Hansen at St. Mark's Lutheran church on Friday, Nov. 24, at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Clarence J. Hansen officiated and the arrangements were by Prescott Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Hansen had passed away at Creighton's Lundberg Memorial hospital on Monday, Nov. 20. She had been hospitalized just a week.
Burial was made in the Bloomfield cemetery. Pallbearers were Carl Koops, Albert Jensen, James Fry, George Eckmann, Chris Broders and Fred M. Younge.
Helen Maria Elizabeth Kurth was born November 21, 1891, in Germany. She was the daughter of August and Ulricha Block Kurth. When she was one and a half years old she came to this country with her parents.
On June 25, 1913, she was united in marriage to Henry Hansen at Bloomfield, Nebr. Mr. and Mrs. Hansen farmed in the Bloomfield and Lindy vicinity until they returned and moved to Bloomfield in 1958. They had earlier become affiliated as confirmed members with St. Mark's Lutheran church of Bloomfield.
The marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Hansen was blessed with six children, all of whom survive their mother. These include two sons and four daughters; Evelyn (Mrs. Reed Young), Norman, Martha (Mrs. Julius Beckmann), and Harold, all of Bloomfield; Esther (Mrs. Wilbert Jensen), Missouri Valley, Ia., and Helen (Mrs. Jack Smith), Des Moines, Iowa.
Mrs. Hansen had been in failing health for the past several years. On November 13, she entered Lundberg Memorial hospital at Creighton, and she passed away there on November 20, 1961, at the age of 69 years, 11 months, and 29 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one son-in-law and one grandchild. Survivors left to mourn her passing, besides her husband of the home in Bloomfield, and their six children, include two brothers, Ed Kurth of Bronson, Nebr., and August Kurth of Dalton, Nebr.; two sisters, Meta (Mrs. E.J. Schneider) of Lincoln, and Anna (Mrs. William Kieselhust), of Sidney, Nebr.; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild; as well as other relatives and many friends made through the years.
