Funeral services for Albert Hofstetter were held at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday April 23, 1977. The Mass of the Resurrection was offered by Rev. Peter Gadient who also officiated at the graveside services in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Pallbearers were six grandsons, Bob and Bill Hofstetter, Lyle Kohmetscher, Steve Schendt, Norman Witte and Kenneth Kathman. Servers were 5 grandson; Tim Kohmetscher, Ron Schendt, Dale Kathman, Gary Kohmetscher and Richard Hofstetter.
Albert Hofstetter, son of Andrew Hofstetter and Catherine Bohnart was born at Lawrence, NE on Feb. 3, 1899 and passed away on April 20, 1977 at Perkins Pavillion in Hastings, NE at the age of 78.
He was united in marriage to Mary Bolte on Feb 1, 1921 at St. Stephens Church, Lawrence.
He spent his entire life on a farm in the Lawrence community until he retired to his home in Lawrence 20 years ago.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, a son Vernon about 2 years of age, a son Donald who was killed in France during World War II, at the age of 19 years and 3 months. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Edward and Frank.
He is survived by his wife Mary, one son, James and four daughters, Mrs Gerald (Alice) Kohmetscher of Blue Hill, Mrs Raymond (Eleanor) Schendt of Superior, Mrs Walter (LaVera) Witte of Blue Hill, Mrs Irvin (Bertha) Kathman of Lawrence, one sister Mrs Joe (Cecelia) Reiman of Blue Hill, 40 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Out of town relatives and friends attending the services were from Blue Hill, Hastings, York, Superior, Red Cloud, Shelby, Kearney, Lincoln, Glenvill, Edgar and Indinaola.
